That's how much notice first nation communities in the North are getting that the Murdered and Missing Women Commission of Inquiry may be coming to their community, September 12-22.



You see, the dates and times and locations have not been released yet, so you'd better just be on call for those ten days, if you don't mind. Hopefully the dates will be released before the Commission arrives in town, asking some of B.C.'s most marginalized communities to share some of their most profound injuries.



I've heard a number of concerns from Chiefs in the north about this process, including last minute meetings and cancellations, meetings scheduled with the Commissioner where a Commission lawyer is substituted at the last minute, and meetings arranged racially - separating elected band Chiefs from elected Mayors after years of effort to bring these groups together on policy issues.



This Commission had better start figuring out which end is up, or Chief Jackie Thomas won't be the only elected Chief telling the Commission to try somewhere else.
